Meghan Markle might be married to royal Prince Harry and a famous Hollywood actress who once had a starring role in Suits, but she prefers to keep it real.
Meghan, 44, explained how important authenticity was to her in a previous interview with The Circuit. During the sit-down, she admitted that when she was in the Royal Family, she felt she wasn’t being her true self, as there was a fine line between being relatable and also a duchess.
“It was different several years ago, I couldn’t be as vocal,” she told The Circuit before her “choreographed” appearance at Paris Fashion Week.
The one rule she hated to follow was wearing “nude pantyhouse all the time” since that “was not very” herself.
Critics of the Duchess of Sussex aren’t buying her need for authenticity, mostly because of her career in Hollywood.
In a forum on Reddit, several called out Meghan for seemingly being contradictory because of her perceived public image.
“I don’t get Meghan. She was a professional actress used to wearing a costume. Everything the royals wear is a bit of a costume,” one Redditor commented. “Behind closed doors, Kate isn’t wearing a McQueen suit. She’s probably in jeans or leggings like everyone else. So work with a stylist and come up with a uniform that is in the Venn Diagram between rules and personal taste.”
A second shared: “She’s an actor. Isn’t that the entire point? Dressing for the part? It’s sort of like uniform, I’m sure McDonald’s employees don’t get to complain about what they have to wear at work, like millions of other people.
I could understand her point better if she were required to wear pantyhose all the time, even when not around the royal family or doing events, but we know that’s not the case. Anyhow, I hear what she is saying, but we should all be blessed to have such problems and the ability to walk away on a whim to live our ‘authentic’ lives.
