Meghan Markle has reportedly set her sights on a new house move “closer to Hollywood,” nearly six years after buying her lavish mansion in California. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved into their dream mansion shortly after quitting the Royal Family and moving to the US in 2020. They reportedly bought it for £12million.
Prince Harry and Meghan’s Montecito luxury abode spans 5 acres and features nine bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, a pool and a tennis court, extensive gardens, and its own chicken coop, which the couple have named Archie’s Chick Inn. It also features a five-car garage, a guesthouse, a spa, a wine cellar, a gym, a library and a tea house, among other luxury amenities.
But new reports now claim the Duchess is ready to start looking for a new home, closer to Hollywood, to “make life easier” as she thinks about the family’s next chapter.
A source told Heatworld: “Meghan’s decided that being closer to Los Angeles will make life easier. She’s sick of having to lose four hours of her day in the car when she has meetings or appointments and the fact that their neighbours continue to trash-talk them doesn’t exactly make her feel welcome.
“But more than that, she says they’re too cut off from the social scene in Hollywood, she wants to be much more tapped in because that’s when the deals really happen.”
The source explained that the Duchess would be partial to a second place in “Brentwood or Bel Air” to be close to many of her celebrity friends; however, the couple’s finances wouldn’t be able to support two households.
They added: “It’s not that she doesn’t love their home in Montecito, the grounds are stunning and she’s put a lot of work into decorating it to her taste, but she says it’s just way too removed for what she wants to accomplish.
“She hates feeling like she’s always on the outside of things and that’s just the reality of living so far removed from the action. It’s left Meghan feeling much more cut off than she expected and she’s ready to change things up.”
It comes as the Sussex couple prepare for their next big trip of the year.
Harry and Meghan are heading to Australia next week to attend a number of “private, business and philanthropic engagements”.
