Meghan Markle has faced sharp criticism from a Royal commentator following this week’s revelation that she will return to acting.
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, has secured a minor role in the forthcoming comedy film Close Personal Friends.
The role will see Prince Harry‘s wife portray herself in the movie. This week, Meghan was photographed on the film set in LA, marking her first venture back into acting since before she married Prince Harry in 2018.
The decision to resume acting has prompted divided opinions globally, with one Royal commentator delivering a scathing assessment of the duchess’ professional pivot.
Taking to X after the announcement, The Daily Mail’s Richard Eden wrote: “Here’s one Hollywood role Meghan should be able to manage: playing herself!”.
While it is understood her forthcoming movie role is more of a brief cameo than a substantial part, her return to work in front of the cameras has been interpreted by many as a potential indication of future plans.
It is understood Prince Harry, 41, is supportive of his wife. Despite being spotted on a California set just days ago, Meghan Markle has yet to comment on the recent news.
