Meghan Markle has faced backlash over her latest appearance during a trip to Australia.
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, and Prince Harry, 41, visited Australia for a four-day trip, marking their first time in the country since stepping back from royal duties in 2020.
Meghan made a headline-grabbing appearance at the InterContinental Sydney Coogee Beach for an event described as a Megstock girls’ weekend, held at the luxury hotel, where guests reportedly paid up to $3,199 for the experience. It comes as an Australian cafe went viral with fake AI image of Harry and Meghan.
However, her time at the event was brief, lasting just two hours.
She arrived at around 5 p.m. alongside Harry and took part in an onstage Q&A session before leaving the beachfront resort roughly 120 minutes later in a waiting Range Rover.

According to reports, Meghan was paid $150,000 for her appearance, which was part of the Her Best Life retreat organized by podcast hosts Gemma O’Neill and Jackie Henderson.
However, the appearance quickly sparked controversy online, with some social media users questioning the brief nature of her visit.
One person wrote, “Why did Meghan Markle not even share a meal with women who had paid $3000 to spend ‘retreat’ time with her? How is that kind?”
Another social media user added, “She didn’t go down there to spend time with any of those people, just to get a few PR photos and collect her share of the takings.”

Others echoed the sentiment, with one commenting, “How ridiculous, they advertised like she was spending the whole weekend with them,” while another remarked: “2 hours? I thought it was a weekend retreat? WOW!”
Meghan’s representatives have responded to the backlash, stating that her brief appearance had been agreed in advance and was always intended to be limited.
In a statement, a representative told HELLO, “Meghan was always confirmed only to attend the retreat for her Q&A portion of the weekend. She had a lovely time sitting down and talking to Gemma in front of such an engaging audience.”
During their trip to Australia, Meghan and Harry visited a children’s hospital in Melbourne, met survivors of the Bondi Beach attack and attended Invictus-linked sailing and rugby events in Sydney.
Their last trip to Australia was the 2018 royal tour, which marked their first major overseas visit as a married couple. Unlike that official engagement, this trip is privately funded and not part of royal duties.
