Meghan Markle will only return to the UK if one major thing changes, claims a royal insider. The state of Prince Harry’s security when visiting the UK has remained a huge issue for him for some time, with the royal previously stating that he doesn’t feel safe bringing his family to the UK if he does not have police protection.
The source said: “[Harry] has always been clear that he cannot see how he can bring his family to the UK unless proper security measures are in place”.
Unless the security situation has changed, his position remains the same, they added.
During an interview in May 2025, Harry told the BBC that it was “impossible” to bring Meghan and their children, six-year-old Prince Archie and four-year-old Princess Lilibet, back to the UK.
He said: “I can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this point”.
Archie and Lilibet last visited the UK in June 2022, when they were aged just three and one.
The visit took place during the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, a visit that also saw Lilibet mark her first birthday.
The family’s visit to the UK is also thought to have included Lilibet’s first meeting with her paternal grandfather, King Charles.
Archie and Lilibet are also thought to have spent time with the late Queen, with Harry reminiscing on the meeting in his 2023 bombshell memoir Spare.
