(NewsNation) — Ever since Meghan Markle debuted her fruit spread in America, media colleagues in the UK have done taste tests comparing her spreads with King Charles’ royal products.
Now we know Markle’s As Ever fruit spreads and marmalades could go up against King Charles’ (actual) jams and marmalades in direct competition; although, unlike Meghan, the proceeds of King Charles’ products all go to charity.
Inside Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s $60M net worth
Markle didn’t just trademark her wide range of products in Australia as I discovered last week — she’s also trademarked in New Zealand, Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom.
In fact, Meghan’s As Ever products are almost an exact copy of what King Charles sells in his “food hall,” including teas, jams, honey, wines, chocolate, gin and shortbread cookies.
While the international trademarking may just be a way for Markle to protect her trademark in English-speaking commonwealth countries and North America — and she may not be planning to go up against her father-in-law directly in the UK — it is still interesting that she took the initiative to trademark her brand in her husband Prince Harry’s homeland, nonetheless.
