Meghan Markle’s name has been conspicuously removed from the lineup of a rescheduled star-studded gala in Los Angeles, where she was initially set to be recognized earlier this summer.
The Duchess of Sussex was slated to appear at the Night of Wonder gala at the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County last June, but the occasion was delayed due to demonstrations in the vicinity.
Meghan was set to be recognized for her efforts in “championing women and underserved communities”.
Now, the museum has revealed a new date for the gala, October 15, but Meghan’s name is completely missing from the official program.
The glamorous occasion was initially described to resemble “an enchanted garden at night” with interactive displays, live entertainment, and dinner service, while the complete attendee roster featured individuals from throughout LA’s cultural and charitable circles, who were anticipated to participate.
A single ticket for the new date costs £1,115 ($1,500).
In June, the museum’s president and director, Lori Bettison-Varga, told People magazine, “Night of Wonder celebrates and supports the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County’s commitment to science, nature, and community.”
“We are proud to honour Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, a native Angeleno, whose work to advance community wellbeing and expand opportunity, especially for underserved communities, aligns with our equity-focused approach to developing science literacy for the next generation, including through our STEM and STEAM Pathways programmes.”

Interestingly, Meghan’s name was not initially included on the museum’s website, and her participation was only confirmed through Ms Bettison-Varga.
