Just hours after the filming took place, news of Meghan’s apperance on the popular show was pushed out across Ten’s social media channels. In the shared clip, judge Poh Ling Yeow can be heard saying, “We’ve had MasterChef royalty in the kitchen before but no one like this.
“All the way from sunny California, please welcome to MasterChef Australia… The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle!”
It has been reported that Meghan and her team only heard the promo’s wording after it was released to the public.
Speaking to news.com.au, a source revealed that both Meghan and her team were “frustrated” by the wording.
The source said they were “very frustrated,” adding that they’d “specifically” made clear they didn’t want the word “royal” used.
The source added: “They were outside the doors when it was filmed, so didn’t know what had been said.”
Meghan’s surname, ‘Markle’, was also used – with the former working royal having previously corrected her friend Mindy Kaling for using the name.
During an episode of With Love, Meghan, she told Mindy: “It’s so funny you keep calling me Meghan Markle.
“You know it’s Meghan Sussex now.”
