Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have reportedly got two different ideas for how much they want their children exposed in the spotlight. The couple have largely shielded Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, with Meghan having returned to Instagram last year.
Since her social media return, Meghan, 44, has shared numerous pictures of her children – but has carefully decided to keep their faces out of the pictures. It has been reported that although she is keen to show off her children, Harry would ideally like for Archie and Lilibet to live a life away from the prying eyes of the public.
Writing in his new book, Betrayal, author Tom Bowers wrote: “Worried about security, Harry insisted that their children should not be photographed. Meghan argued the opposite. The children, she believed, were important for her brand. She spoke of them living as normal Californian children.”
Speaking of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, he wrote that Meghan “demanded that in time, her little prince and princess should have the same exposure as William and Kate’s children”.
Although they are three of the most photographed children in the world, Catherine and William are believed to be keen for their three children to live as normally as they can.
In a recent edition of her Royal Insider column, Woman’s Royal Editor Emily Andrews expressed her view that the children “are part of Meghan’s ‘perfect family’ brand”.
She wrote: “Their team would argue that carefully controlled images of their children are totally compatible with both Harry’s campaigning [and wish for privacy] and Meghan’s quest for sales.
“I would say that’s for the birds. Many celebrities rarely mention their children, let alone post pictures of them.”
Archie was born in the UK in 2019, with Lilibet joining the family in 2021 after their move to the US.
