Prince Harry spends his Christmases in the U.S. now, and it’s very different to he was used to growing up as a member of the Royal Family.
Meghan Markle shared a Christmas morning ritual that she enjoys with her family in the holiday episode of her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan.
The 44-year-old marked the debut of the latest episode with the entire installment dedicated to everything the Duchess cherishes about the holiday season, report Daily Express UK.
Amid festive decorations, Meghan discloses her passion for preparing a special holiday-themed brunch for Harry and their two children on Christmas morning. While crafting cinnamon stars and mini quiches, the duchess said, “I love the tradition of a Christmas morning brunch — I do it every year with my family.”
This custom differs from the traditional Royal Christmas morning routine. The royals typically make their way to St. Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham for an early morning holiday service on Dec. 25, and on the walk there and back, they are greeted by well-wishers.
The duchess also takes advantage of the episode to showcase her mother’s recipe for Christmas Eve gumbo, which represents a soul food dish deeply connected to Doria’s ancestral roots.
Explaining that it’s a dish her mother prepares annually, Meghan informed Top Chef celebrity Tom Colicchio, “It’s a once-a-year thing that she does, so we’re going to make some gumbo.”
In a previous conversation with Marie Claire, Meghan expressed her passion for the holiday season, along with her children’s enthusiasm. Speaking about Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, Meghan expressed her delight at the current ages of her children and her anticipation of experiencing the holiday festivities through their perspective.
Meghan shared with the publication, “At first, I think, as a mom with children, you’re just enjoying having them there, but they’re not understanding everything that’s happening yet.”
“But now we’re at the age where I just can’t wait to see it through their lens every year.”
