Meghan, Meghan, Meghan. Have you ever heard the saying too little, too late? Well, your rumoured latest plan matches that saying perfectly.
This plan, according to sources who spoke to Naughty But Nice’s Rob Shuter in February, said that not only is Meghan eager to make amends with some royals, but she is also planning to be “armed with a pile of gifts” for Harry’s relatives.
However, that is besides the point. What is the point is the fact that handing gifts to people you have criticised and publicly slated surely is not going to fix anything.
Isn’t it too little, too late, for a gesture like that? I mean, not publicly criticising the family in the first place would have been the best plan of action, or even giving an apology soon after would have offered some hope of saving the relationship.
I don’t think a present will quite cut the mustard, especially all these years later. Even if the presents are expensive and gift-wrapped to perfection.
But I think if the duchess does make the trip across the pond, it would be a good idea to come with a positive approach, and maybe an apology or two for Harry’s royal relatives.
Even an apology may be too little, too late, but I think it’s the best bet for any sort of amends being made.
