Meghan Markle’s contentious legal battle with her half-sister Samantha has negatively impacted her husband Prince Harry‘s chances at reconnecting with his family, according to one expert.
Meghan and Samantha were entangled in a messy legal clash as the Duchess of Sussex’s sibling sued her for “defamation and injurious falsehood.” Samantha accused Meghan of tarnishing her name in her Netflix documentary as well as multiple public interviews including her televised 2021 tell-all with Oprah Winfrey. Meghan has not publicly responded to Samantha’s lawsuit.
Samanatha claimed that she recieved a string of intense hate after Meghan’s Netflix documentary released, including even death threats from fans. Samantha’s case was later dismissed with prejudice in 2024, but she has since appealed the dismissal of the initial lawsuit.
In the aftermath of the legal issue, Royal expert Ian Pelham Turner explained to Fox News Digital why this could impact Prince Harry‘s chances of reconciling with the Royal family.
Turner explained, “More legal disputes between Meghan and Samantha could break the fragile links between Harry and Meghan trying to establish a way forward.”
As for Meghan’s legal battle, Samantha’s lawyer, Peter Ticktin has shared his thoughts on the court’s decision for the case in an interview with Fox News Digital.
He said, “The District Court judge, an Obama appointee, dismissed the lawsuit brought by Samantha Markle against her sister Meghan Markle, finding that there was no case. This decision was wrong, and now, we are tasked with convincing a three-judge panel of the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals of how our case was solid.”
British royals expert Hilary Fordwich also weighed in with her thoughts on the controversy, stating that this legal battle could taint Meghan’s reputation in the eyes of the Royal family.
Fordwich then chimed in with her opinion as she told Fox News Digitial, “There is nothing good about this for Meghan Markle. Her reputation is tarnished further by her own sister making such allegations. Whether true or not, it doesn’t matter, as neither way does it reflect well.”
