Melania Trump has been dubbed “a boss” after maintaining her composure during an escalator malfunction at the United Nations Headquarters on Tuesday, September 23.
The First Lady of the United States joined her husband, President Donald Trump, as the duo were welcomed by a gathering of reporters who had assembled at the facility on 45th Street, New York City.
After seemingly dodging inquiries about Palestine and Chuck Schumer [Minority Leader of the United States Senate], Trump headed toward the moving staircase – only for it to come to an abrupt stop the instant he stepped onto it.
While the 79-year-old glanced around bewildered, an unfazed Melania swiftly began walking up the motionless escalator, encouraging the President to trail behind her.
Trump and his fellow global leaders are participating in the 80th session of the UN’s General Assembly (UNGA) with this year’s theme for the annual worldwide gathering being, “Better together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights”.
It was Melania’s actions, however, that earned acclaim on social media. “Melania is a BOSS for that move,” proclaimed one X user responding to the escalator clip.

Another individual praised, “Love how she takes charge and starts climbing.”
A third agreed: “Melania doesn’t miss a beat and starts climbing the stairs. She’s wonderful! No one screws with her because she’s a powerhouse.”
One X user humorously commented: “Melania – even in high heels – is unstoppable. Let’s go!” Another chimed in with enthusiasm: “Melania took the reins (in a sleek white suit after Labor Day fashion icon! ) and led the way! Actually shows a lot of who she is… don’t underestimate Melania, she’s one strong woman! God bless the USA.”
Adding to the escalator mishap, Trump was further irritated when his teleprompter malfunctioned during his speech at the event. The technical glitch happened during a live broadcast that was aired on multiple channels, including Fox News.
As the President stood at the podium flanked by two small microphones, dressed in his signature blue suit, white shirt, and red tie, he quickly realized the teleprompter was not functioning. “I don’t mind making this speech without a teleprompter, because the teleprompter is not working,” he declared.
Trump appeared visibly frustrated as he glanced to the side and heard the audience’s awkward laughter. He continued, “I feel very happy to be up here with you, nevertheless, and that way you speak more from the heart..”
The President then issued a warning, “I can only say that whoever is operating this teleprompter is in big trouble.”
He shook his head, seemingly at a loss for words without the aid of the device, while the room watched him, anticipating his prepared speech.
