Melania Trump‘s recent behavior during her UK visit with President Donald Trump indicates a change in her typical public demeanor, says body language expert Darren Stanton.
Speaking to the Irish Star, Stanton noted that Melania has previously exhibited “leakage signals” in tense or uncomfortable situations.
He highlighted instances like the 2017 inauguration, where she smiled at Trump only to frown when he looked away, and other public events where she seemed to avoid holding his hand or showed visible tension.
“In the past, Melania has often given away subtle ‘leakage signals’ suggesting she wasn’t entirely comfortable in certain situations,” Stanton stated.
“For instance, at the inauguration, she famously smiled warmly at Donald as he turned toward her, only to drop into a sharp frown the moment he looked away. On other occasions, such as when exiting planes, she’s been seen pulling her hand back or shrugging off his attempts to hold it.”
However, he said the recent footage from the UK visit told a different tale.
“Her body language is completely aligned with the setting. She presents a strong, unified front, showing genuine solidarity,” Stanton elaborated.
“There are no micro-expressions of frustration, discomfort, or reluctance. Instead, she appears happy to be taking part in the visit, fully engaged in supporting Donald and in the ceremonial duties.”
Stanton also remarked on how Melania’s handholding with Trump appeared sincere.
“In this context, it looks authentic rather than staged. Both are moving in rhythm, there’s no visible hesitation on her part, and her nonverbals elsewhere back this up,” he said.
“Her posture and expressions are congruent with someone who is comfortable and genuinely willing to display unity. In short, there are no indicators that she’d rather be elsewhere.”

Donald Trump touched down just after 12 p.m. local time, sporting a navy ensemble with a purple necktie that mirrored Melania’s color palette.
Queen Camilla sported a sapphire blue ensemble topped with a Philip Treacy hat. Princess Kate was attired in an Emilia Wickstead gown and a feather brooch.
The Trumps’ second state visit to Britain featured a complete Royal reception, a carriage parade, and official ceremonies. Tiffany Trump and her spouse, Michael Boulos, accompanied the journey.
