Memorial Day is coming up and there are several big events happening in the Shreveport area.
We do want to remember what Memorial Day is all about. We take this time to honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the U.S. military. You will find patriotic ceremonies to family-friendly festivals and live music.
1. Memorial Day Ceremony at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery
On Monday, they will host the annual Memorial Day Ceremony, scheduled for Monday, May 25 at 11a.m.. This will include a flag presentation, guest speakers, a moment of silence, and a 21-gun salute. This event draws veterans, families, and community members who come together to reflect and pay tribute. The Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery is located in Keithville.
2. Mudbug Madness Festival
If you love music and great food, you need to be at the Mudbug Madness Festival. It’s being held May 22-24 at Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport. This 3 day event features live music on multiple stages, a crawfish eating contest, local vendors, and plenty of ice-cold beverages. It’s a great way to kick off summer while celebrating the amazing culture of Louisiana.
3. R&B on the Lawn
Catch some great soulful music and enjoy eats from a variety of food vendors. This is happening at Caddo Common Park on Saturday May 23 from 3-8pm.

4. Free Memorial Day Concert
The Shreveport Metro Concert Band 9400 Ellerbe Rd at Grace Community Methodist Church. The event is free and open to the public. It’s Sunday at 3pm.
5. Godspell the Musical
May 21-Sunday May 24 at the Shreveport Little Theatre on Margaret Place. This will include performances of iconic songs like “Day by Day”, “Learn Your Lessons Well “, and “All Good Deeds”.
This event is being held on Monday, May 25 at 2pm. It will be at the American Legion Post on South Lakeshore Drive. The Naval Fleet Reserve will also be here for their Memorial Wreath Toss.
7. Red River Rumble F1 Powerboat Showdown
May 22-24 on the Red River in downtown Shreveport. Formula 1 Powerboat Racing returns to Shreveport-Bossier for the Red River Rumble F1 Powerboat Showdown.
About 50 powerboats will tear across the Red River in a race for big prizes.
