EXCLUSIVE: Ahead of the Sundance premiere of her debut feature, Take Me Home, award-winning filmmaker Liz Sargent has inked with Mgmt Entertainment for representation across film and television.

Currently seeking distribution, Take Me Home is an expansion of Sargent’s same-name proof-of-concept short, which premiered at Sundance in 2023. The drama follows Anna (Anna Sargent), whose ordered routine and efforts to care for her aging parents are disrupted amid a relentless Florida heat wave.

More from Deadline

Take Me Home is set to world premiere in Sundance’s U.S. Dramatic Competition on January 26 before going on to make its international premiere in Perspectives Competition at the Berlinale on February 17. Gersh is representing sales for the film.

After taking the short film version of Take Me Home to Sundance, Sargent saw it win the Grand Jury Prize at the American Cinematheque’s Proof Film Festival in 2024. The film was later showcased at the White House in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Olmstead Act, with her pitch for a narrative feature expansion winning the largest production award in the world of $1 million dollars at AT&T Untold Stories at the Tribeca Festival. The project was also supported by the John D. and Catherine T. Macarthur Foundation, Sundance Institute Artist Accelerator Program, The Walt Disney Studios Project Advancement and Completion Fund, Rainin Foundation, and SFFILM Invest Program.

Sargent unveiled a previous narrative short, Strangers’ Reunion, in 2019. Chronicling a Korean-American adoptee’s journey to Hong Kong to meet her birth mother for the first time, the film was produced by Ritz-Carlton and Hearst under the mentorship of Mike Figgis, and released in six languages worldwide.

A two-time New York Emmy winner, Sargent has been recognized as both a Half Initiative Mentee (2022 & 2023) and a MSSNG PCES AICP Mentee (2023) and is currently part of NBCUniversal’s Launch Director program.
