Actor Michael J. Fox is gearing up for the Oct. 14 release of his new book, Future Boy. In a new interview, Fox — who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991 — spoke about his wife of 37 years, Tracy Pollan.
“She’s my best friend, my partner,” Fox, 64, told People magazine in an exclusive interview that was published on Oct. 11. “Tracy’s the first person I check in with and the last person I check in with.”
Fox and Pollan first met on the set of Family Ties in 1985. They’d reconnect and fall in love a short while later, eventually tying the knot in 1988. In the years that followed, Pollan has been a rock for Fox, as he navigated through the ups and downs of Parkinson’s.
“One of the things I’ll always love Tracy for is that at that moment [of my diagnosis], she didn’t blink,” Fox said during a 2020 appearance on the Today show. “She’s there in the front lines with me every single day. She never pretends to know as much as I know. And the other thing Tracy does is, if there’s something funny, let’s get to the funny. We’ll deal with the tragic later.”
Indeed, Pollan has stuck by her husband’s side without question.
“Tracy made it clear that she was with me for the duration,” Fox said in November 2022. And Pollan has done exactly that. In July 2025, the couple celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary, which Pollan marked with a post on social media.
“Happy anniversary baby! Love you so,” she captioned a photo. Fox also posted a photo in honor of the special day.
“37… but who’s counting? Love you, T,” he wrote in the caption.
