Millie Bobby Brown has shared, for the first time, an insight into motherhood and confirmed she won’t reveal anything about her baby daughter to the media.
The 21-year-old actress adopted a little girl earlier this year with her husband Jake Bongiovi, but has kept the details of their expanding family under wraps.
In an interview with British Vogue, the magazine’s cover star explained why that is so, and even confirmed she won’t be sharing her baby’s name until “she’s ready to decide for herself”.
“For me, it’s really important to protect her and her story until she’s old enough to potentially one day share it herself,” she said.
“It’s not my place to purposefully put her in the spotlight unwillingly. If she chooses to share her personality one day with the world, like I did when I was young, that’s something we’d support. But right now, as she’s so little.
“As her parents, it’s our job to protect her from that.”
However, Brown did share some heartwarming details about her and Bongiovi’s new venture into parenting.
“It’s been a beautiful, amazing journey – she’s taught us so much already,” she told the publication.
“Perspective is a huge thing. The smaller things in life are so much more precious. Our days are filled with lots of cuddles and laughter, and love. It’s just endless joy.” Who’s on nappy duty most? “We are 50-50 on everything. That’s why I’m so grateful to have partnered with him in this life – he is just the most amazing dad.”
Brown, who sprang to fame as a child when she was cast in Netflix’s Stranger Things, has copped intense scrutiny over the course of her TV and film career, which has continued since she became a young mum.
But Brown has learnt to adopt a “no f***s given” attitude or fight back when needed.
An example of when her fiery personality surfaced was when she slammed several Daily Mail journalists by name for body-shaming articles and headlines in an Instagram video.
Her appearance was attacked again during the Stranger Things media tour — the series’ final season is airing in November and December — after she dyed her hair blonde.
Tabloids relentlessly wrote about how “old” she looked and how much makeup she wore, which left Brown “crying every day”.
Brown and Bongiovi met in 2021 through a mutual friend, who knew Bongiovi through college, and Brown cold-called him on a whim after he shared his number.
“I thought he was so cute, but I didn’t know if he liked me or not,” she said.
It seemed the feeling was mutual as they ended up video-calling and texting, which led to an in-person meetup one month later.
The couple married in May last year and again in September with a big Tuscan wedding officiated by her Stranger Things co-star Matthew Modine.
They live in Georgia, Atlanta along with 11 dogs, four cats and 40 farm animals.
In amongst her acting roles, Brown founded an animal shelter, set up a production company, launched her beauty and lifestyle brand Florence By Mills and is finishing a veterinary technician degree.
