Here’s some good news to go along with Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy’s reup as Warner Bros Motion Picture Chairs: A Minecraft Movie 2 is in the work at Warner Bros with Jared Hess returning to direct the follow-up to the near $1 billion grossing hit. A July 23, 2027 release date has been set.
The screenplay by Jared Hess & Chris Galletta is under wraps. The buzz was that there were always other worlds to build out to and characters in the Minecraft-verse.

A Minecraft Movie debuted to a record $163 million domestic opening and has since grossed $424 million, making it the No. 1 film of 2025 at the domestic box office. With a worldwide total approaching $1 billion, A Minecraft Movie is also the second highest-grossing release of the year.
Other maneuvers by Warner Bros today on the release sked include animated movie Bad Fairies going from July 23, 2027 to May 21, 2027. Directors on that movie are Megan Nicole Dong and Olivier Staphylas. Screenplay is by Deborah Frances-White with Cynthia Erivo as the main voice.
