Jesse Eisenberg fulfilled a “dream” by starring in Minions and Monsters.

The 42-year-old actor stars alongside the likes of Trey Parker, Allison Janney, Christoph Waltz, Jeff Bridges, Zoey Deutch, Bobby Moynihan, and Phil LaMarr in Minions and Monsters, the third instalment in the Minions prequel series, and Jesse admits that he relished working on the new movie.
Speaking to People, Jesse explained: “When I got asked to be in this movie, it felt like I got called because they told me I was winning the lottery.
“To get into one of these movies is like an actor’s dream, because it’s so fun to be in without all of the anxieties of your own vanity and having to see your weird face on a screen.
“It’s just pure joy, and then to be in a movie like this, which celebrates filmmaking and Old Hollywood as I’m directing my own movies, to me, was just like a perfect serendipitous thrill.”
Jesse recently went to a private screening of the movie with his family, and he loved the experience.
The Hollywood star – who has been married to Anna Strout since 2017 – said: “My kid loves the movies.
“We saw the movie together alone in a screening room, because we saw it before it came out, and my kid was just cackling at all of the great Minion stuff, but I was just laughing as like a lover of Old Hollywood at all of the incredible, subtle, funny references they make to Old Hollywood.”
Meanwhile, Jesse recently admitted that he rejected the chance to reprise his role as Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Reckoning as he is “moving in different directions in (his) life”.
The actor famously played the tech billionaire in the 2010 movie The Social Network, but he opted against reprising the role for Aaron Sorkin’s upcoming sequel.
Speaking to Variety, Jesse said: “It’s an honour to speak to Aaron in any capacity, because he’s so articulate and charming and so bright.
“We talked about doing the movie for several days. The way Aaron speaks, he speaks so wonderfully, as he writes that, in a way, if you’re not going to do something with him, it feels like you’re letting down America.
“I just told him I’m moving in different directions in my life, and you know, what he said sums it up nicely. I don’t want to be associated with that character, but all of my reasons for not wanting to do the movie have nothing to do with how wonderful the movie is, and will be, and I’m sure is already.”
