Miranda Lambert stole the spotlight during Morgan Wallen’s Miami tour stop with an emotional cover of “Thought You Should Know.”
Originally written for Wallen’s mother, Lambert personalized the song by subtly changing a few lyrics to reflect her own life.
Her heartfelt performance had fans asking Miranda to record her own version in the studio.
Morgan Wallen may be headlining one of the biggest country tours at the moment, but it was Miranda Lambert who delivered one of its most memorable moments.
At the July 11 stop of Wallen’s I’m The Problem Tour in Miami, Miranda stepped into the spotlight with “Thought You Should Know,” a personal ballad Wallen co-wrote with the 41-year-old singer. Despite the song’s emotional meaning (and the fact that it was written as a tribute to Wallen’s mom), it didn’t make it on his current setlist. So Miranda took it upon herself to give it the moment she thought it deserved.
Dressed in her signature fringed graphic tee, denim mini skirt, and white cowboy hat, Miranda took the stage with her guitar in hand and a voice that had the entire crowd in awe. She even tweaked the lyrics to reflect her own story, changing “You’ve been losing sleep since ’93” to “’83,” the year she was born—a subtle but personal touch that fans were quick to notice.
“Love to hear you sing this song!!,” one fan wrote in the comments. “Need your studio version,” another person wrote. A fan who was in attendance at the show said, “Was blessed enough to see you perform this song! You were amazing!” Others echoed the sentiment, urging her to record her own version of Wallen’s song.
So far, Wallen’s tour has been packed special appearances from some country heavy hitters including Brooks & Dunn, Thomas Rhett, and Ella Langley. But, Miranda’s stripped-down performance offered a nice pause from the rowdy, party-like atmosphere of the tour.
While most of the night offered high-energy crowd-pleasers, her moment with “Though You Should Know” really struck a chord with fans. And judging by the flood of comments begging for her own full-length version, it’s clear that even when it’s not her song, Miranda knows exactly how to make it her own.
