Travis Scott can add “actor” to his credits — and it’s all thanks to director Christopher Nolan.
The “SICKO MODE” rapper, 35, revealed during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallonon Tuesday, July 21, that the Oppenheimer director, 55, personally invited him to star in his new film, The Odyssey.
“My phone went off and it just said, ‘Chris.’ And I’m thinking, like, ‘Okay, I don’t know what this is about. Maybe he wants to go to a show?’ ” he recalled.
“I’m like, ‘Okay, what’s this about?’ So I pick up and he’s like, ‘Would you be interested in acting in a movie?’ And I’m like, ‘I mean, I guess, you know? What’s the [role]?’ ” he continued. “But I didn’t think it was for him. I thought it might be for somebody else.”
He said Nolan then told him that he was working on a movie that was “coming out soon,” he told him, “And I want you to kind of be in it.” The musician said he was surprised by the request, especially as his only on-screen acting credits before that point had been in music videos.
“I’m like ‘Whoa, hold on. Wait. Wait. You know I make music?’ ” he said with a laugh. “And then he gave me his whole thesis on why…”

“I really enjoy his time. I’m really inspired by him, he’s a real mentor of mine outside of this. And so I’m like, ‘Yo, whatever you’re down with, I’m down. However, it goes, I’m with it,’ ” Scott said.
Host Jimmy Fallon, 51, replied, “You crushed it. You were great in the movie.”
“I was actually nervous as ‘F,’ but it worked out,” Scott responded.
Fallon noted that he had scenes with “everyone” in the film, and Scott admitted that he was surprised by that as well, as he initially thought he was going to “maybe” be in one scene with some “extras.”
“I didn’t know that it was going to be Anne Hathaway, Tom [Holland] and Robert Pattinson — a bunch of like, amazing people… I don’t know what the f— I’m doing. But they were such [an] amazing cast you know?” the rapper explained.

Scott said “surprisingly” the acting role came before he was asked to create his song for the film, “When I’m Home,” and his family and friends back home were celebrating his latest achievement of acting on-screen in the “No. 1 movie.”
“It feels way different. My parents, even my school counselor. Even my theater teacher from my high school, they reached out to my mom. You know this is like another stratosphere, [of] like greatness,” he shared.
“The people that always [are] like scolding you in school, trying to make you a great human. [They’re] like, ‘You finally did something good,’ ” he said of their reaction to him being in The Odyssey.
