KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One of the best players in Kansas Royals history has the opportunity to place himself in rarefied air.
Former Royals left fielder Alex Gordon made the 2026 Baseball Hall of Fame Ballot on Monday, joining 12 new candidates among a total of 27 people on the ballot.

Gordon spent all 14 MLB seasons with the Royals, earning eight Gold Glove Awards and three all-star appearances. He was also a catalyst in helping bring the club their first World Series championship in 30 years in 2015.
He ranks among the top 10 in numerous offensive categories for the franchise, including home runs, RBIs, hits, runs and games played. He was inducted into the Royals Hall of Fame earlier this year.
His biggest moment with the club came in Game 1 of the 2015 World Series, when he hit a game-tying home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to send the game to extra innings. The Royals ended up winning 5-4 in 14 innings.

He finished his career with 190 home runs, 749 RBIs and 1,653 hits while batting .257

To be elected to the the hall of fame, a player must receive 75% of the votes from The Baseball Writers’ Association of America.
Players who don’t receive the number of votes necessary to be elected must receive at least five percent of the votes to remain on the ballot. Players can remain on the ballot for 10 years, as long as they receive five percent of the vote. If a player is not elected after the 10 years, they are no longer eligible for the hall of fame.
