In a summer in which Superman and The Fantastic Four were battling the dinosaurs of Jurassic World at the box office, it’s strange to think that a movie from Brad Pitt would be considered the underdog. But now, F1: The Movie, the racing film directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick), is about to perform an impressive victory lap. After becoming Pitt’s highest-grossing movie of all time — with $552 million at the global box office — the movie is headed back to IMAX theaters, according to Variety. Here’s how you can catch it.
F1: The Movie Box Office
Although there’s been plenty of competition for IMAX screens this summer. At the beginning of July, Jurassic World Rebirth wasn’t even released on IMAX screens because of overcrowding from F1 the previous week and Superman the following week. Despite certain predictions from fans and pundits, Jurassic World Rebirth not being on IMAX screens didn’t hurt its box office at all. The movie is currently at $769 million worldwide and is the fourth most successful movie of the year, despite mixed reviews.
Comparatively, F1 is at $552 million, an impressive feat considering its battle against big, preexisting franchises.
