Monkey Rock Entertainment Center is currently closed because the landlord has cited a breach of the lease at the Shoppes at Solana.
Social media posts are sharing a notice of the lockout on a business window.
The landlord, Elm Creek Real Estate, states in the notice that the owners of Monkey Rock have broken their lease, dated April 1, 2021.
“This is your notice that Landlord (Elm Creek Real Estate LLC.) is hereby electing to exclude tenant (Family Fun Factor LLC) from the leased properties. Your entry upon the leased premises is hearby prohibited, and landlord will construe such prohibited entry as trespass …” states the notice.
The notice states that the tenants can regain access if they pay all outstanding rent and late fees.
Enoch Kimmelman, owner of the Shoppes at Solana, said the business is inside the former Sears building, which is not part of the mall. The anchors are all separately owned.
Monkey Rock opened in October of 2022 at the mall, then called Sunland Park Mall. It has bowling lanes, virtual reality games, including golf, a rock-climbing wall, mini golf and an arcade.
The owners of Monkey Rock also own the Jungle Reef aquarium at the mall.
