Hilary Duff showed off a strikingly smooth visage that shocked her fans when she was spotted out shopping in Los Angeles on Monday.
The 38-year-old actress and singer was pictured in LA’s Studio City neighborhood as she navigated a break in the city’s rare bout of rain to stock up on Christmas decorations.
It was Hilary’s very taut face that caught the attention of several commenters on social media.
The Daily Mail has reached out to Hilary’s representative for comment but hasn’t yet heard back.
The Lizzie McGuire star wore her hair pulled back in a severe bun to highlight her wrinkle-free forehead and prominent cheekbones, as well as her unusually sunken cheeks.
The look led some fans to wonder if she might have had a facelift or had other less-invasive cosmetic procedures in comments on Instagram.

It was Hilary’s shockingly taut face that caught the attention of several commenters on social media, with some wondering if she had a facelift, Botox or fillers. However, she has never addressed whether she has had work done
‘She didn’t need that facelift,’ wrote one user.
‘Omg not her getting rid of her beautiful baby cheeks why everyone wants lifted face so bad 😢 I mean cheeks are so cute and give such a youthful look,’ another fan bemoaned.
‘What happened to her face ?’ read one comment.
Others speculated that Hilary’s smooth face could have been the result of injectable treatments.
‘NOT THE BOTOX FACE 😭😭😭😭😭😭,’ wrote one concerned fan.
Despite the speculation on social media, Hilary doesn’t appear to have ever commented on any cosmetic work she may have had done on her face.
Last month, concerns about Hilary’s changed appearance spread across social media after she announced her return to music.
Among those suggesting a change was the beauty influencer Dana Omari who suggested that the Fly singer has undergone multiple procedures over the years.

She wore a stylish gray-and-cream Aran sweater with dark jeans, a leather handbag and dangling earrings with white and brown stones

While some beauty influencers have speculated on social media that she may have had work done, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Yael Halaas wasn’t convinced that Hilary had turned to plastic surgery, though she thought injectables were more likely; seen October 18 in LA
‘At first glance, nose job, brow lift, probably facelift, cheek aug, lip filler, Botox, Dysport etc,’ she wrote on her Instagram account, IG Famous by Dana.
Another social media star, TikTok user Nurse Melanie, said Hilary had ‘aged so gracefully,’ but she said the singer may have had Botox and lip filler.
However, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Yael Halaas — who has never treated Hilary — told the Daily Mail in October that she wasn’t convinced that Hilary had turned to plastic surgery, though she thought injectables were a more likely culprit.
‘I don’t think Hilary Duff has had much changes to her face but she does look like she had filler to her cheeks,’ Dr. Halaas said.
‘Upon looking at her side profile, it’s my opinion that there is an excess of volume that gives her that C-shape under the eyes, along to the sides of the upper side of her cheek,’ she continued.
‘Often it can look overdone when it’s first injected, but once it settles, what we usually see is a younger lifted face.’
She added, ‘If done right, it can appear to look natural, making people wonder what was really done. She’s a perfect example of this.’
For her outing this week, the How I Met Your Father star wore a chic Aran sweater, a style that hails from the Aran Islands off the coast of Ireland.

The sweaters are usually of a single color, but Hilary’s intriguing top featured a gray center panel and cream-colored sides and sleeves.
She paired the look with dark blue jeans and square-toed black heels, and she carried a dark leather handbag.
In addition to highlighting her youthful face, Hilary’s tied-back hair put the spotlight on her dangling earrings, which featured white and brown stones.
Her fans have been waiting with bated breath since September, when she revealed that new music was on the horizon.
That month, Hilary announced on Instagram that she had signed a new recording contract with Atlantic Records.
She broke the news by sharing candid photos of herself recording new songs in the studio with her husband, 38-year-old singer–songwriter and producer Matthew Koma.
The former Disney star — who previous album, Breathe In. Breathe Out., was released a decade ago in 2015 — wrote in her caption, ‘new music … or something,’ alongside emojis of a disco ball, sparkles and cherries.
Further details about her upcoming projects are still under wraps, and the docuseries and new album haven’t yet received release dates.

A release date for her album hasn’t been announced yet, but earlier this month she released the new single Mature, which appeared to take a veiled swipe at Leonardo DiCaprio, 51, for only dating women decades younger than him; pictured in September in Hollywood
However, Hilary did release a new single, Mature, earlier this month. The song sparked controversy after appearing to take a veiled swipe at Leonardo DiCaprio, 51, and his habit of only dating considerably younger women.
Duff’s upcoming docuseries will not only chronicle her long-awaited return to music but also explore her personal life as a multi-hyphenate actress, singer and mother-of-four.
The highly anticipated project will be directed and executive produced by Sam Wrench.
Wrench worked on A Nonsense Christmas With Sabrina Carpenter, the pop star’s 2024 holiday special, as well as Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, the superstar’s concert film.
Duff is mother to son Luca Cruz, 13, from her marriage to Mike Comrie and shares daughters Banks Violet, six, Mae James, four, and Townes Meadow, one, with Koma.
She has been married to her musician husband — who appears to be contributing in the production part of her new musical project as seen in her latest Instagram post — since late 2019.
The series will embrace ‘the ups, downs and everything in between,’ according to a press release obtained by Variety.
And it promises that ‘fans will ride shotgun as she balances raising a family, recording new music, live show rehearsals, and preparing to perform on stage for the first time in over a decade.’
