Prime Video is not going all in on Motorheads for a second season.

Deadline reported that Prime Video is cancelling the young adult drama after its first season, only giving the series three months after its May premiere to find an audience.

It might not seem like a lot of time to cultivate a fanbase, but things move fast in the streaming world, and for Prime Video, the streamer felt like the series wasn’t doing well enough despite critical and audience praise. According to Deadline, the series never cracked the Nielsen weekly Top 10 streaming lists. But it did do well on rankings by Luminate and FlixPatrol.

Even Amazon MGM Studios’ TV head Vernon Sanders said to Deadline in August that the series had “great completion rates.”

“[F]olks who start that show tend to watch it all the way through, and that’s a great sign,” he said.

Fans have rallied to save ‘Motorheads’

Fans have also launched social media campaigns for its renewal.

Perhaps because of its potential domestically and internationally–such as in Brazil, where it does have a sizeable stronghold–Motorheads is being shopped around, according to sources.

Executive producer Jason Seagraves told Deadline that he and creator John A. Norris are proud of the series they’ve created.

“We set out to make a show with now agenda and with a lot of heart, to give families something they can watch together,” he said. “While Johnny and I are disappointed Motorheads won’t be continuing at Prime Video, we couldn’t be more proud of what the team created.”

Executive producer ‘optimistic’ show will find a new home

“Despite going into release with impossibly low audience awareness, our passionate and vocal fan base led the charge and made the series impossible to ignore,” Seagraves continued. “Their enthusiasm has energized us and we’re optimistic we’ll find a home that believes in and supports the show.”

Starring Michael Cimino, Melissa Collazo, Ryan Phillippe and Nathalie Kelley, Motorheads follows twins who move with their mother to Pennsylvania to live with their uncle, who was once a driver for NASCAR and now owns a body shop.
