Music artist bbno$ shocks no one with the release of his new single, “diamonds are forever.”

The song comes out after a post on Jan. 9 on his social media explaining how his mental health has taken a toll due to the constant hate and negativity he’s received throughout his entire career. This gives the single a more sensitive yet still guarded version of his regular “TikTok-esque” songs.

The song has slower rhymes, slightly slower beats and a heavier tone compared to his breakout song “Lalala” in collaboration with artist Y2K. He chooses to use words that, on a first listen, relate to the song title “diamonds are forever.” But as I dug deeper into the lyrics I realized that he’s talking about his own career. The sound is the current state of his mind; bored. It’s definitely a left turn for bbno$’s sound and direction.

I wouldn’t say that there is any specific hook that is catchy, or stays in your head. The song feels more like an expression of his current thoughts and feelings about his career. He made a song that wasn’t meant to be used for a TikTok dance or used in an edit, the song had real feelings.

The overall song isn’t something I would listen to on a daily basis, this is a song you listen to once or twice. If you don’t get it, you don’t, but if you can see what bbno$ is trying to express, it’s a pretty good reflection of his mental state. His mental state is in shambles after years of constant negative remarks. bbno$ shows signs of anger and depression, which are especially seen in this song. I think that this song displayed a lot of what bbno$ was holding up in his head. But that still doesn’t make it a good song.

I’d give the song a solid 6.5 out of 10.
