The individual responsible for kidnapping Nancy Guthrie “could be dead,” according to a group of experts.
A new one-hour documentary, NewsNation Presents: The Nancy Guthrie Mystery, sees Senior Correspondent Brian Entin sit down with leading figures in the criminal profiling business as they discuss what could be happening in Nancy’s case, more than three months on from her disappearance.
Authorities have never traced the masked man seen in the footage, despite widespread public appeals and extensive investigations.
A suspect has never been named in the hunt for Nancy, and no trace of her has ever been found since. Law enforcement officials have never shared how many people they think could be involved in the suspected kidnapping, or if they are still alive.
Now, forensic nurse, Dr. Ann Burgess, has suggested the person captured on Nancy’s doorbell camera footage may have been killed. Brian asked, “So, the person we see at the front door could be dead… killed by someone else… killed by the boss.”
Ann replied, “Right? By the boss. Right. It was well-planned. They got away with it. And they form a type of case that we’ve never seen before. As far as we know.”
Meanwhile, criminal psychologist Dr. Gary Brucato said there could be a bigger network of people responsible for Nancy’s kidnapping. He shared, “If he is caught, if he’s alive and is caught, he will lead down the spider web to the center.”
The expert added that he believes there is an extensive network involved in the kidnapping of the mom of Today Show star Savannah Guthrie. He said, “That amateur hour kind of quality is interesting also, and suggests to me a difference in intelligence. Some schemer behind the scenes, and this character who is the sort of hired or asked to do this. I don’t believe this person worked alone… I think there is a little group of people.”
Criminologist Dr. Casey Jordan also speaks in the documentary, where they discuss the possibility that Nancy knew the person captured on the camera at her front door.
Casey said, “This person knew her. I don’t think she knew this person … it could have been somebody who saw her on the Today Show with her daughter, Savannah.”
As of yet, a motive for the kidnapping has never been confirmed, and there has been no evidence that has led to a conclusive chain of events of what happened to Nancy.
