One of Nancy Guthrie’s pals has spoken out as the missing 84-year-old’s case passes the 100-day mark.
Nancy Guthrie was abducted from her Tucson, Arizona, home on February 1 and has not been seen or heard from since. Her daughter, Savannah Guthrie, has continued to plead with her suspected kidnappers for her mother’s return, only recently returning to her job at NBC’s Today Show.
On Mother’s Day, Savannah also posted a poignant collection of images, showing her mom alongside numerous family members. In the Instagram post, she reiterated that there is still a reward for information leading to Nancy’s recovery.
However, as the 100-day mark passed, Nancy’s long-time friend spoke about her hopes of reviving the case, which appears to be getting colder.
Speaking to Page Six, Lauren Serpa said, “Even in Tucson, where it happened, it’s starting to fizzle out, and I don’t want that to happen. It’s been 100 days, and people are starting not to forget, but not to think about it as much.”

Continuing, Lauren, who has known Nancy for 12 years, added that even though the local community has been “very supportive,” people are now moving forward with their own lives.
“People are starting to move on basically,” Lauren said. “That’s what happens when it doesn’t affect their lives.”
However, just like Savannah has said, Lauren also asked people to keep Nancy “in the back of their head all the time,” noting that they should continue to “pay attention to their surroundings.”
“Then they can report it. But, you know, if they’re not thinking about it, then they wouldn’t even think about anything that somebody would say,” Lauren explained.

Concluding, Lauren gave her well-wishes to Nancy’s distraught family, as she said, “It just breaks my heart. You know, the family is going through so much. What is so sad is that we are at 100 days. I know it shouldn’t take this long.”
84-year-old mother of three, Nancy Guthrie, has been missing for 102 days.
Devastatingly, many experts believe she “may have died” as she has been unable to access vital medication for a serious heart condition.
According to Michael Gould, a retired Nassau County lieutenant, he believes there is a “less than 10%” chance that Nancy Guthrie is still alive.
He also reinforced his assessment, providing an approximate timeframe for when she may have died, as he told The Mirror US, “Sadly, my assessment is that Nancy likely died within the first 72 hours and will ultimately be recovered. Recovery doesn’t bring closure-it simply removes the uncertainty of not knowing where she is.”
