In the 1980s, Nancy Wilson of Heart tried to bring a rare vintage guitar into the U.S. without paying heavy import taxes. When the customs officer asked what it was, she simply said, “A very large violin.” They waved her through without questions. I wasn’t about to let them take my guitar,” she later joked.
