Lanterns star Nathan Fillion is swooping to the rescue of the HBO series’ co-creator Damon Lindelof, who cracked a seemingly harmless joke about the Green Lantern a year ago and is now getting some flack from fans and even a longtime writer of the comic book character.
On a podcast last year, Lindelof made an apparently sacrilegious snipe about the superhero’s favorite color. Asked why his upcoming adaptation was called simply Lanterns, sans the Green, the Lost creator said, “It’s called Lanterns, because we all agreed that the ‘Green’ was stupid, so now it’s just Lanterns.”
As if that wasn’t enough, fans noticed the lack of green in a Lanterns teaser trailer, further fueling whatever this brouhaha might be called.
