Ne-Yo unveils new country-inspired single

“Simple Things” premieres after a Grand Ole Opry debut & CMA Awards appearance

Three-time Grammy Award-winning hitmaker Ne-Yo has unveiled his first-ever country-inspired single, “Simple Things,” which is currently available via Compound Entertainment/Atlantic Outpost.

Is Taylor Swift’s New Song “I Knew It, I Knew You” Country?

“Simple Things” marks a reinvention for Ne-Yo, who recently teased plans to release a country-inspired album. During the interview, Ne-Yo offered an exclusive preview of “Simple Things” that went viral and generated over 6.5 million views on Instagram reel alone.

The new single, which was produced by Dave Cohen and Young Lan, continues to showcase Ne-Yo’s dynamic versatility as a songwriter and artist. The hitmaker recorded “Simple Things” in Nashville earlier this year, and the song captures a reflective and intimate tone with lyrics such as “You can search your whole life never to find what’s standing right in front of you.”

The release follows Ne-Yo’s historic Grand Ole Opry debut, where he premiered “Simple Things” and performed a medley of chart-topping hits, including “So Sick.” Earlier this week, he appeared as a presenter at the 2025 CMA Awards alongside Gretchen Wilson to present Vocal Duo of the Year.

This new era arrives on the heels of a breakout month for Ne-Yo, who recently took the stage at the inaugural Proud to Honor: Celebrating America’s Heroes concert in Nashville, joining a lineup of country stars in a televised tribute to veterans and military families.

Beyond music, Ne-Yo continues expanding his creative footprint, making his Broadway debut in Hell’s Kitchen, the multi-award-winning musical created by and inspired by Alicia Keys.
