New Netflix film The Thursday Murder Club was partially filmed at historic Reading country mansion Englefield House.
The brand new mystery-comedy, based on Richard Osman’s best-selling novel of the same name, and has just been released to cinemas.
The film features a star-studded cast, with the plot following four retirees – Helen Mirren as Elizabeth, Pierce Brosnan as Ron, Ben Kingsley as Ibrahim, and Celia Imrie as Joyce – who spend their time tackling cold case murders for fun.

Englefield House is one of the filming locations used in the film, appearing as the luxury retirement village Coopers Chase.
Englefield Gardens, St Mark’s Church and the drive can also be seen in the film, which was shot last summer.

“We are very lucky to welcome film crews to Englefield on a regular basis, but the popularity of this story and the calibre of the cast provided an extra level of interest and excitement.”

It also appeared as Godmersham House in the BBC’s production of Miss Austen which aired in February 2025.
