Available to pre-order now, Escaping Babylon: An Intimate History of Black British Music explores how Black music transformed British culture and society, focusing on scenes and genres such as hip-hop, jungle, grime and trap. It’s been authored by RA contributor Jesse Bernard.
“From an early age—at the house parties my parents used to have, to travelling across the M62 to raves in Manchester, Hull and Leeds—Black British music has shaped my understanding of the world,” Bernard shared on Instagram. “Through Escaping Babylon, I celebrate the stories of unsung people from local communities as well as the global stars whose names we adore.”
