Leeds has welcomed a new destination for electronic music fans with the launch of a specialist record store dedicated to dance music culture. The new space is a collaboration between vinyl retailer Plant & Deck and local institution Peppermint Records, bringing together carefully curated new releases, second-hand records and community-focused events under one roof.
Located on the top floor of Doghouse Bar and Bagel Shop on Kirkgate, directly opposite Tribe Records, the store aims to become a hub for vinyl collectors and DJs alike. Alongside an extensive selection of records spanning house, techno, disco, ambient, electro, dub and experimental music, the venue also features four dedicated listening stations, allowing visitors to preview records before purchasing them.
The shop will operate Thursdays through Sundays by appointment and is set to host a regular programme of in-store events, while Doghouse Bar downstairs will provide space for DJ performances, strengthening the connection between record collecting and Leeds’ thriving electronic music community. The founders describe the venue as a “haven” for dance music diggers, with an emphasis on discovery and conversation as much as sales.
