If you love feeling an adrenaline rush, you may be in luck.
That’s because a new entertainment venue in Durham will be packed with go-karting, laser tag and arcade games.
Andretti Indoor Karting & Games is set to open its first Triangle location this spring. And it turns out, the destination has an emotional connection to a late race car driver.
“North Carolina holds a very special place in our hearts as it was the home of John Andretti, a beloved member of our family who sadly lost his tough battle against colon cancer several years ago,” Eddie Hamman, managing member of the entertainment company, said in a news release. “Not only are we looking forward to opening our doors to the community, but this celebration will also honor John’s legacy.”
Here’s what to know about Andretti Indoor Karting & Games, including where and when it will open and what thrill seekers can expect.
Where and when will the venue open?
Andretti Indoor Karting & Games is coming to 4857 Topgolf Way in Durham. The area, which is off Page Road and near Interstate 40, is home to fellow entertainment venue Topgolf, The News & Observer previously reported.
The 90,000-square foot go-karting destination is set to open to the public at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 19. But people who want a sneak peek can sign up for early access.
From now through Monday, May 18, the company said it will release slots for its preview event at 9 a.m. each day. To RSVP, visit andrettikarting.com/durham.
Here’s what to expect at the preview event, which requires pre-registration and kicks off at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 19:
- Free go-kart racing
- Unlimited arcade games and activities
- Autographs from the Andretti racing family
- Food and drinks on sale
There also will be discounts for local college students on Thursday, May 21 and customer giveaways on Saturday, May 23.
What’s at the new entertainment venue?

- “High-speed electric Superkarts on a multi-level track”
- Arcade games and duckpin bowling
- Racing simulators
- Virtual reality spaces
- “Two-story laser tag arena”
- 7D motion theater ride
“Each location also offers a fresh, hand-crafted menu, full bar, and in-house gourmet catering with event and meeting space capable of hosting groups from 10 to 2,000,” Andretti Indoor Karting & Games wrote.
Durham customers can donate to the CheckIt4Andretti Foundation, which was set up to raise “awareness about the importance of screenings in preventing and detecting colorectal cancer, as well as to provide funding for high-risk, low-income patients who lack insurance or are too young for insurance to cover screening costs,” the company wrote.
First location in NC
The new venue will be Andretti Indoor Karting & Games’ first location in North Carolina. The Florida-based company has 13 other spots across the United States.
“Durham was a very attractive market for us because of the area’s continued growth, strong family demographics, thriving corporate community, and vibrant entertainment scene,” a spokesperson told The N&O in a Wednesday, May 13 email. “We saw a great opportunity to bring a unique, all-in-one entertainment destination to the Triangle.”
The fun-focused space was built and customized for Durham customers. For now, there are no plans for future expansion in North Carolina.
