New Japanese Horror Movie With 97% Rt Score Finally Lands Release Date 1 Year After Premiere

A widely acclaimed horror thriller finally sets its theatrical release in the U.S., bringing it to audiences who have long been waiting.

Genki Kawarmura’s Exit 8 premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival and received an 8-minute standing ovation. It went on to screen at several other major film festivals and has a near-perfect 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. Exit 8 has also already had a theatrical run in Japan, its country of origin, where it was a significant box office hit, grossing $27 million.
