New Look at ‘Stranger Things: Tales from ’85’ Animated Series; Showrunner Teases “A Lot of Freaking Cool Monsters”

To ease the pain of the impending end of “Stranger Things,” EW has revealed new images from “Stranger Things: Tales from ’85,” an animated spinoff coming to Netflix in 2026.

Set in the winter of 1985 — between the events of “Stranger Things” Seasons 2 and 3 — the Hawkins crew must fight new monsters and unravel a paranormal mystery terrorizing their town.

Showrunner Eric Robles describes the series as “Hawkins Lab science meets Upside Down matter” to EW.

“The stakes are real for the kids. It’s not Scooby-Doo, man. It’s not like, ‘Oh, well, it’ll be fine.’ We don’t know if it’ll be fine,” says Robles, who promises “a lot of freaking cool monsters.
