It’s easy to like New Hampshire nutters Replaced By Robots. First of all, and this is no small thing, they’ve got their own theme song. That alone points to the fact that there’s a bigger concept to these quirky alt-rockers—which we think sits somewhere between 1984 and They Live. Whether there’s a layer of social commentary that goes beyond the sci-fi aesthetic, we haven’t quite dug that deep yet. But here’s the thing—we’re intrigued enough to keep listening. The stop-motion video to that theme song is a joy, while other songs, such as “All the Lonely Nights,” are anthemic and infections. Oh, and they utilize theremin!
