Lily Rene Mendoza Baptiste

Leadership comes naturally to Lily Rene Mendoza Baptiste, as she serves as class president at Louise S. McGehee School and in other organizations within the school.
She is the daughter of Mr. Rene Gerome Baptiste and Ms. Melissa Ann Mendoza.
At McGehee, Lily maintains a 4.0 GPA and has received the McGehee Citizenship Award. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, has published in the school’s literary magazine “The Mélange,” is active in choir, theater and peer mentorship programs and serves as manager for the volleyball team.
She has also received the Sociedad Española José Luis Baños Award for Excellence in Spanish and first place in the Louisiana State Literary Rally for Spanish II. She also uses her skills in Spanish interpretation on an as-needed basis for unaccompanied immigrant minors receiving legal support services.
Lily has also served as Youth Leadership President for Upturn Arts and worked with Habitat for Humanity, Grace at the Greenlight and Second Harvest Food Bank.
During the 2027 Carnival season, she will be presented by the Original Illinois Club.
