CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A new collaboration between The Joy of Music and Tanager will introduce music therapy services to students in Cedar Rapids schools this fall, aiming to support mental health and emotional well-being.
Through the partnership, a board-certified music therapist from The Joy of Music will work alongside Tanager mental health professionals to provide evidence-based music therapy.
The sessions are designed to help students build emotional resilience, improve social skills, and boost self-confidence.
Tanager has offered expressive arts therapies, including music therapy, for years as part of its broader mental and behavioral health services.
Sessions in Cedar Rapids schools will include a range of activities such as songwriting, lyric discussion, and rhythm exercises, tailored to individual student needs.
