During the 2025 season, the Kansas City Royals battled to play October baseball for the second consecutive season. However, their 82-80 record was not enough to qualify for the postseason.
Instead, the club watched the postseason from the comfort of their couches, hoping the front office would make some moves that would help them for the 2026 season.
While they didn’t make any big splashes, they were able to acquire Matt Strahm in a trade with the Philadelphia Phillies, acquire Isaac Collins in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers, and sign OF Lane Thomas to a one-year deal.

New walls and bigger goals for Roylas’ star Bobby Witt Jr. in Kansas City
While the offseason could have been better for this team, the bigger news came from the construction that is being done at Kauffman Stadium. It was reported in January that left-center and right-center will be moved in 8-to-10 feet, while the left and right field corners will be moved in nine feet.
That should spell wonders for Witt, who was robbed at home multiple times last year. He could have slugged way more home runs if the dimensions had been changed last season.
So, watch out for Witt with the bat in his hands this year. Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter believes he will be the one leading the Royals in terms of power, but he does face some stiff competition in Vinnie Pasquantino.
“There is no question Bobby Witt Jr. is the face of the franchise and the best all-around player on the Royals roster, but he is not a slam dunk for a 30-homer season, evidenced by his 23 long balls that trailed Vinnie Pasquantino and Salvador Perez in 2025. ‘Pasquatch’ was especially good during the second half, logging an .845 OPS with 17 home runs in 64 games.”
For the Royals’ sake, they will need these two to be at their best all season long. If they are, Kansas City has a shot to win the AL Central for the first time since 2015.
