When the New York Giants lost Malik Nabers to a season-ending injury, it was a significant blow to rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart’s group of pass-catchers.
Nabers, who suffered a torn ACL, is the Giants’ No. 1 wide receiver and his absence will no doubt make things more difficult on Dart moving forward.
With Dart’s development paramount this season, the Giants should be exploring the trade market for any semblance of an upgrade to a wide receivers room that is now headlined by Wan’Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton, who is currently injured.
Luckily, it appears the Giants are indeed trying to get involved in the wide receiver market, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, who also lists running back Devin Singletary as someone who could get moved.
“And with Tyrone Tracy Jr. back healthy, and Cam Skattebo running people over, the Giants don’t seem to have a screaming need for Devin Singletary anymore,” the ESPN insider explained. “He’s making $3.5 million in fully guaranteed salary this season. But at this point, more than $1 million of that has been paid by the Giants, who are looking around for receiver help and might be willing to eat some salary if it’s the right kind of deal to help them.”
Ideally, if the Giants are going to give up draft capital for a wide receiver, it’ll be for one who can help them the rest of this season and beyond. After all, Robinson will be a free agent in 2026, so New York may have a void to fill next offseason.
Initially signed in 2024 after the Giants let Saquon Barkley walk, Singletary began falling out of favor after four games last season and saw his snap counts decrease.
Now, in 2025, Singletary is relegated to RB3 behind Tracy and Skattebo. As a result, he has only seen the field for 18.1% of the team’s snaps.
Singletary has one more year left on his deal in 2026, but the veteran back is a clear cut candidate and the Giants should do what they can to get something for him before he’s inevitably let go next offseason.
The Giants could use Singletary in a package to get a wide receiver, or he could be moved in a separate trade to help recoup some draft capital if New York springs for a wide receiver trade, although his value is very low and Singletary will likely only garner a late-Day 3 pick.
