Chandler Dozier – “It’s Not Me It’s You” – We’ve just found the next great neotraditionalist country star, and his name is Chandler Dozier. He’ll make you an instant fan with the Dwight Yoakam-inspired track. But listening through his debut EP Bakersfield East, you’ll discover the authority this young man brings to various styles of traditional country.
Daniel Donato – “Blame The Train” – Daniel Donato is a country guitar maestro who’s unafraid to explore the region beyond country where twang meets jam band. But on his new album Horizons, you will find all the twang you could ever want, including this tasty tune.
Zach Top – “Between The Ditches” – There will be no sophomore slump from Zach Top. His new album has folks singing his praises, and will keep him ensconced at the top of the genre—a refreshing place for a neotraditionalist. “Between The Ditches” is one of the gems not to overlook on Ain’t In It For My Health.
Margo Price – “Kissing You Goodbye” and “Losing Streak”– Margo Price has just released the best album since her debut, maybe the best album of her entire career, and maybe one of the best country albums so far this year with Hard Headed Woman. That’s why she earns the rare double add on the Top 25 Playlist with these two stellar tracks.
Brothers Comatose – “Blue Mountain” – It’s got to be an extra special song for a bluegrass track to make it on the playlist, and that’s what Brothers Comatose have released with “Blue Mountain.” In this case, it’s sister Addie Levy singing lead, and an immediately timeless melody. It comes from their album Golden Grass out September 12th.
Kashus Culpepper – “Believe” – Kashus just continues to dial in and refine his bluesy country sound, and perhaps sets a high water mark for himself with “Believe.” The only complaint is we need a proper album from this guy, and sooner than later.
Brenn Hill – “The Horse That Made The Cowboy” – If you’re looking for the latest and greatest in cowboy & Western music, Brenn Hill has a new EP out called The West That Money Couldn’t Buy, Vol. 1. This song shows off his cowboy poetry skills complimented by twin fiddles.
Walker Montgomery – “Strangers Like Us” – The son of John Michael Montgomery just keeps delivering with each single he releases. And now with pops retiring, someone stepping up to keep this sound alive is exactly what’s needed. With so much attention being paid to neotraditonalists, Walker Montgomery needs to be more in the conversation. “Strangers Like Us” proves why.
