Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, in their last public outing together, seemed to hint at a troubled marriage.
The Moulin Rouge actress, 58, and her country music star husband, 57, have reportedly parted ways. TMZ broke the news on Monday, September 29, revealing that Nicole and Keith have been living separately “since the beginning of summer.” PEOPLE confirmed the split and added that Nicole “has been fighting to save the marriage.” Following the news of the split, TMZ first reported that Nicole filed for divorce from Keith, citing irreconcilable differences.
Before the news of their separation and now-divorce, the couple was last spotted together at a 2025 FIFA Club World Cup match at Geodis Park stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, on June 20, 2025. The game was between Los Angeles Football Club and Esperance de Tunis.
Nicole was seen in a white floral dress while Keith sported a plaid shirt and light blue jeans, reports the Mirror US.
The event took place just five days before their 19th wedding anniversary, which Nicole commemorated with an Instagram post.
Body language expert Judi James commented on their last public appearance together, noting that Nicole and Keith appeared “awkward and unusually disconnected.”
“These poses look awkward and unusually disconnected for a couple that will normally entwine romantically in public,” she told The Mirror US.
“Nicole’s white satin dress looks almost bridal, and she does appear to be inviting Keith to respond and maybe hug her. She throws her arms out and uses eye contact, but even this gesture appears more challenging than usual and more like a playful dare than anything more passionate,” Judi continued.
“In other photos, Nicole is standing, looking tense and rigid, like a doll, with her arms held stiffly down at her sides. It’s Keith who looks more unresponsive here, leaning against the rail in a pose that appears relaxed and smiling but seeming to look past Nicole rather than reacting to her,” she added.
Judi concluded by stating that at one point, Keith’s tongue looks to be poking out of his mouth, “which can suggest rejection or inner anxiety.”
Nicole and Keith first crossed paths at the G’Day USA gala in Los Angeles, California, on January 15, 2005. They swapped contact details at the event, though Keith failed to reach out to her for four months. Nicole revealed the story behind their initial encounter on the Ellen DeGeneres Show in February 2017.
“I had such a crush on him, and he wasn’t interested in me. It’s true!” Kidman told host Ellen. “He didn’t call me for four months.”
The duo then tied the knot on June 25, 2006, during a candlelit ceremony at St. Patrick’s Estate in the coastal suburb of Manly in Sydney, Australia. Both Nicole and Keith hail from Australia.
Nicole and Keith became parents to their first child, Sunday Rose, on July 7, 2008. Their second daughter, Faith Margaret, was born via surrogate on Dec. 28, 2010.
