According to a study released by Fortune India-Interbrand on Monday, Priyanka Chopra has been ranked as the third most valuable celebrity in the country.
The actor, whose last Bollywood release was The Sky Is Pink in 2019, is the only female performer to feature in the top three. Leading the rankings is cricketer Virat Kohli, while Shah Rukh Khan occupies the second spot.
The list isn’t limited to film stars. Former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni ranks fourth, followed by Ranveer Singh in fifth place. Akshay Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan are placed sixth and seventh, respectively, while cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar comes in at number eight. Alia Bhatt secures the ninth position, and Telugu superstar Allu Arjun rounds off the top ten.
The report notes that the rankings were compiled using a framework that evaluates much more than earnings, endorsements or theatrical performance. It stated, “The study is the result of a detailed methodology that goes well beyond mere earnings or box-office pickings of the celebrities, and delves into several other factors which together determine the celebrity’s final brand value. Financial performance apart, the methodology goes deep into the various aspects which determine brand strength—distinctiveness, coherence, engagement, trust, affinity and responsibility. By treating personal brands as managed economic assets, the methodology offers profound insights beyond simple follower counts.”
The assessment examines several dimensions of celebrity influence, including trust, audience engagement, brand consistency and public perception.
Priyanka’s journey in entertainment began after winning the Miss World title in 2000. Soon after, she entered the film industry with The Hero: Love Story of a Spy and steadily built one of the most successful careers in Bollywood.
Over the years, she headlined films such as Aitraaz, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Don, Krrish, Fashion, Barfi!, Mary Kom and Bajirao Mastani. Her performance in Fashion earned her the National Award for Best Actress and further cemented her position among Hindi cinema’s leading stars.
What made her rise particularly noteworthy was that she achieved it without coming from a film family or having industry backing.
At a time when her Bollywood career was thriving, Priyanka decided to explore opportunities internationally. She made her Western acting debut as the lead of the television series Quantico before appearing in projects such as Baywatch and The Matrix 4. In recent years, she has continued to expand her global presence with leading roles in projects including Citadel and Heads of State.
Most recently, Priyanka was seen in The Bluff, which started streaming on Prime Video on February 25.
After years away from Indian films, Priyanka is preparing for a major comeback. She will next be seen in Varanasi, directed by SS Rajamouli. The ambitious project also stars Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran and is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on April 7, 2027. The actor is reportedly set to play Mandakini in the film, which will also mark her debut in Telugu cinema.
