Oak Ridge native Chef Alex Gass opens Fire & Salt restaurant
The restaurant will specialize in “reimagining East Tennessee dishes” by building off of “heirloom recipes” that have been passed down by generations.

The Oak Ridge Civic Music Association launches its 2025–2026 “Tapestry” season with “Inspirations” on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m. at Oak Ridge High School.
The concert marks the return of former Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra Music Director Dan Allcott, according to an ORCMA news release. Joining the orchestra is pianist Emi Kagawa, performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 17 in G major.
The evening also features dramatic works by Beethoven and Mendelssohn.
Following the performance, audience members are invited to a special Season Opening Celebration at Fire and Salt restaurant, where musicians, patrons, and friends will raise a glass to toast an exciting season ahead.
