LOS ANGELES — Academy Award winner Octavia Spencer returns as executive producer for “Lost Women of Alaska” and “Feds.”
This season, “Lost Women of Alaska” focuses on the brutal murders of two Alaska Native women, Veronica Abouchuk and Kathleen Jo Henry, and the shocking investigation that led authorities to a sadistic killer.
“These indigenous women, their stories deserve to be told, seen and resolved,” Spencer told Spectrum News. “The strength within the community deserves to be heralded.”
Spencer said that if people didn’t feel like they could hunt women and not suffer any consequences, then perhaps there would be fewer crimes against the community.
What’s needed to curb violence against women?
“A lot more man-hours on solving these cases,” said Spencer.
On “Feds,” Spencer told Spectrum News it’s a way to honor America’s most elite crime-fighting unit, and the show highlights the different cases that they solve.
Being an executive producer, Spencer said, is the most important role she has done because it has allowed her to amplify stories like the ones in “The Lost Women of Alaska” and “Feds.”
“The Lost Women of Alaska” is now airing on ID. “Feds” will air weekly starting March 4 on ID. Both projects will be available to stream on HBO Max.
