The Ontario Chaffey Community Show Band will present “Salute to Entertainment” 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 13, in Merton E. Hill Auditorium on the campus of Chaffey High School, 1245 N. Euclid Ave., Ontario.
Before the concert, the Woodwind Celebration Ensemble will play beginning at 7 p.m. in the lobby, where free coffee and cookies will be available.
Admission is free.
The concert will feature music from Broadway musicals, including “What I Did for Love” from “A Chorus Line,” “On the Street Where You Live” from “My Fair Lady” and “The Impossible Dream” from “Man of La Mancha.”
Guest vocalists will be Bobby Collins and Emilio Pichardo, who are returning to perform with the Ontario Chaffey Community Show Band, and Loren Martinez, in her first appearance with the band.
Bobby Collins has been singing and dancing on stage for more than 35 years, performing in productions including “Singing in the Rain,” “Young Frankenstein,” “The Producers” and “Merrily We Roll Along,” according to a news release from the band.
Collins is also managing artistic director for the Inland Valley Repertory Theatre and the principal of Rancho Cucamonga Middle School.
Emilio Pichardo is a member of The Seventh Variety quartet and the Westminster Chorus. He is also a voice coach with Inland Pacific Ballet and teaches voice at Christian Arts and Theatre in Corona, according to the news release.
Loren Martinez has performed as a soloist and for theater companies and choirs all over the United States. She is a music teacher in the Alta Loma School District and is the choir director at Water of Life Community Church in Fontana, according to the news release.
In addition to the vocal soloists, the concert will feature band member Steve Collins on flugelhorn performing highlights from “The Music Man” and “West Side Story” with the band.
The concert will be broadcast on local Ontario cable Channel 3.
The Ontario Chaffey Community Show Band, founded in 1985 by R. Jack Mercer, is now under the direction of Patrick Arnold and Assistant Directors David Grasmick and David Schaafsma. Band members represent at least two dozen communities throughout Southern California, according to the release.
The band performs monthly concerts at Chaffey High School and other venues throughout the community.
Adult and student musicians are invited to join the band, which rehearses from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays at Chaffey High School.
